Mark practised martial arts from a young age. In his late teens his martial training led him to work as a doorman for a notorious Plymouth nightclub. He soon became manager. After some time he went into freelance sales. At the age of 24 he sat up and realised that his demanding lifestyle and unhealthy diet and heavy smoking and drinking had caused him to look 40!

He decided to return to his martial arts training and chose to live in an isolated cottage in the woods. He stopped his current employment and became involved in a local yoga group. He went on to complete a 2 year teacher training course with the Devon School of Yoga and a 4 year course with the Devon School of Shiatsu . He also completed Macrobiotics Level One at the Kushi Institute and a variety of bodywork courses such as Swedish massage and aromatherapy, Indian foot massage and Ayurvedic massage. Mark has also trained as an instructor in Boxercise and gained a teaching certificate from Holistic Pilates.

Mark spent the best part of the next eight years in India where he deepened his personal yoga and bodywork practise and gained varied teaching and one-to-one training experience. He spent 4 months at the Sivananda yoga ashram  in Kerala, 1 month at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore , 2 months in a Buddhist meditation retreat in Sri Lanka . He lived for 3 years with his wife and son in the ashram of Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi) in Kerala where he practised an intense yoga and meditation regime and gained a wealth of experience teaching and working with people from all over the world.

Mark now lives in Cambridge with his wife, son and daughter.  He continues to breathe, eat and sleep yoga24-7.
